I am from Crown Point, IN and I grew up going to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish and St. Teresa of Avila parish as a student at Valparaiso University. My parents Robert and Karie Lukas raised me in the Catholic Church, and I am the second oldest of four children.

I am drawn to the priesthood because it is a vocation where you are concretely “all in” for Christ and serving his Church. A priest constantly serves Christ and his people and is an instrument which God uses to bring his body and blood to his people. I think what a priest does is so beautiful and I am honored to even be considered for this calling. In a world that is so broken, we need Catholics to answer God’s call, and the priesthood stands out to me as a way to be “all in” for Christ.

My favorite scripture verse is Mark 5:28. This is the scene where the woman who is extremely sick reaches out and touches Jesus’ cloak saying “If I could just touch the hem of his garment, I know I will be made whole.” The faith of this woman shines bright and is a faith I desire in my own life.
